Mentorbox is a monthly subscription service developed by Tai Lopez & his partner Alex Mehr, in which they try to get you to consume book knowledge like a CEO.
Many of the top CEOs & high achieving figures attest to the fact that they read a handful of books per week.
Many of them, including Tai Lopez, are able to speed read, skimming over the books to gather only the important lessons from the book.
Tai’s opinion is that its better to get 1-2 important lessons from each book and then have 365 new lessons per year versus only reading 20 books & having 20 lessons for the year.
With this program, they give you notes, videos & worksheets so that you can gain the key lessons of a book in 1 to 1.5 hours.
Effectively allowing you to consume 50-60 book knowledge per year instead of the measly 3-6 books that most starting entrepreneurs are doing.
Sound like a great idea.
Will gaining the book knowledge like Tai Lopez really lead to making money like him?
This is where I feel there is a big disconnect for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Reading personal development books, gaining knowledge & working on mindset is only 1 part of the equation.
Check out this video by a millionaire mentor, Dan Lok, on why personal development is not enough, to become successful in business.
Most are lacking high-income skills.
What kind of skills do you actually bring to the marketplace?
Many people get addicted to personal development content, I was there once.
I went through a huge phase of going through many of these books. I was addicted to them, thinking that more knowledge = success.
I was wrong, it wasn’t till several years later in 2015, when I actually learned a unique skillset that allowed me to go from making $35K per year to making $10K per month.
From a 9 to 5 corporate job I hated to now working from my laptop, with a location independent business that I thoroughly enjoy building everyday.
If you already have the skill & business that’s making you high-income ($10k per month or more), getting other insights from successful people can only fuel that fire.
So let’s take a look if Mentorbox really is worth the investment for your continual education in personal development?

if you ever wish you were one of those people that can speed read books & retain information with photographic memory, I suppose this gets you closer to achieving those types of results.
I’ve heard other CEO’s hiring assistants that’ll read the books for them and take notes, so that they can consume more book material per year.
This is why Mentorbox could be real valuable for those that actually stick with it and use all the learning materials.
It can save you time but more importantly allow you to consume more knowledge in a shorter amount of time from great books that the founders have pre-selected for you.
Pros & Cons of the Mentorbox
- gain the important lessons equivalent to reading few books per month
- allow you to check out books that you would’ve otherwise never found on your own
- some specific lessons by field experts included in the program, that goes beyond just reading a book
- Books selected by mentorbox are often famous books on other people’s favorite lists
- take your education anywhere with the online platform
- extra material (worksheets, cheatsheets, etc) helps you learn the lessons easier & deeper
- going through the top lessons of a book might actually inspire you to actually read the entire book
- may formulate the important habit of seeking knowledge & continually learning
- Some see audiobooks & getting e-books a much more effective method of learning
- they do include some expensive upsells
- their sales pages appear to promise a bit too much
- some don’t like the fact that there is no personal book selection
What is the key to mastering ongoing learning, so that your mentorbox material doesn’t just end up in your closet unopened?
Back in 2012 I went through a phase of going through many personal development books I could get my hands on.
You could say I went through a deep phase of personal development.
I studied everything from positive thinking, affirmations, subconscious mind, law of attraction, psychology, hypnosis, NLP to spirtuality.
Some of those personal development techniques took me down a rabit hole of devoting myself to those practices for years.
I’ve definitely kept some of that with me to this day, but personal development alone was not what led to drastically changing my life in 2015.
When I went from making only $35K per year working at a job I hated, to making $10K per month running my very own online business that I started from scratch.
I developed high-income skills.
Listen to this millionaire mentor, Dan Lok, talk about the importance of developing that high-income skillset before going into business.
In 2015, I went through a coaching program which taught me the skills of generating leads for local businesses using free traffic.
This changed everything for me.
I already had the hungry mindset, & all the tips & tricks of managing oneself that I learned from all those personal development books.
I just didn’t have real-world skills to apply those teachings so that I can bring tremendous value to the marketplace.
At the end of the day, skills pay the bills.
Its your special skills that allow you to bring value to others & in return you get paid for it.
The problem with pretty much all personal development books is that its lessons are too broad.
Also even though it is called “Mentorbox”, this type of learning is still very far & different from learning from an actual mentor.
The real mentor tells you what to do & what not to do, so that you can produce very specific results.
They also push & challenge you to achieve bigger goals.
In the process, a mentor also teaches you many skills so that you can go out into the world and produce the same results that the mentor is capable of producing.
Dan Lok says its important to go get high-income skills, not just any ‘ol skill out there.
A high-income skill is a skillset that will allow you to make at least $100K to $120K per year, or $10K per month.
Now there’s many out there but few translates so well to building a scalable business with that high-income skill.
For me this was local marketing, specifically the skill of generating leads using free traffic.
Why I love building my business around free traffic?
You can make consistent progress with it as a beginner.
Once you begin generating free traffic, there is no off button, you will consistently grow in traffic & your ability to increase your own income also increases progressively.
You essentially gain the ability to make money while you do other shit, like sleep, eat, play, go on vacation, etc.
Its only by developing your ability to make money while you do other things, do you realistically have a means to make a million dollars per year.
Mentorbox can feed your mindset but let’s call it for what it is. It is enhanced book learning at best.
And any successful CEO or business owner will tell you, when they experienced huge leaps in their progress in business it was due to hiring mentors, not reading books or going through audio programs.
Dan Lok says “All those things help, books, audio programs, seminars but I know for me I’m where I’m at today because of mentors”
If you’re not making $10K per month yet, you need a mentor that’s going to teach you specific skills.
A skill that can deliver high value to the marketplace.
I stand by my opinion that local lead generation using free traffic is one of the best skill & scalable business model you can learn, better than social media marketing, e-commerce drop shipping, or affiliate marketing, go here to learn more about our coaching program.
