I first met Alex Becker live when he spoke at an online marketing conference I attended in Orlando, FL back in 2016.
The core lesson he shared with us was that he was first doing client-based work doing online marketing for other businesses, and he got to a certain point like $20-$30K per month and he got stuck.
He felt it became more and more labor intensive to scale his business further because each client he would land resulted in more work he had to get done.
He then went into developing software and doing product launches which took his online business to $100K per month, because he realized selling software was so much more scalable because all you have to do is sell the product and that’s it, no service to provide after.
He has taken that model and applied to selling many different online courses.
Out of all the top online marketing guru’s out there today, Alex Becker has the most products available for sale and plenty of fans to sell it to thanks to his charismatic youtube videos which he uses to run paid traffic.
The problem is when you begin offering so many products it becomes difficult to maintain high quality across the board, and it begs the question which course is the best one for a beginner looking to make their first dollar online?
People know that he teaches shopify eCom dropship & SEO business from his free webinars but there’s no clear idea which is better?
Today, I’m going to dig into his products, compare them against each other as well as compare them to my #1 recommendation to make money online which is lead generation for small businesses using free traffic. Go here to find out more info.
Source Wave University Review
This is a seo course created by Alex Becker, Stephen Floyd, & Gregory Ortiz.
I first found out about Stephen Floyd, in the OMG Machines SEO course.
They teach you how to land SEO clients. (Search engine optimization)
Getting paid by different businesses to rank their websites for them.
Many of their case studies show students landing $1000 to $2000 per month clients.
The question is though, how long are they able to keep these types of SEO clients.
Here’s the truth.
On average SEO clients only stick around for 6 months.
- Many marketers fail to set the right expectations so the client gets tired of waiting (SEO takes time)
- The company feels they can replace you with another service
- The company thinks they got what they wanted so they feel they no longer need you
- You fail to product the rankings that you promise
Those are some of the main reasons, but there are many more that could go wrong in a SEO deal.
This is why these days, I no longer do SEO service for other businesses.
I simply stict to lead generation business model, where I own 100% of all of the digital assets.
Meaning that the sites I rank are mine, & the client simply buys the leads from me month after month so if they want to continue to get the leads, they have to keep paying me.
If they don’t.
I simply begin working with another competitor.
I’m always in control and I always get paid for the work I put in, because I control the assets.
This really is a far superior business model than SEO imo.
Which is why I believe this lead gen coaching program is bit better than Source Wave at this point, in 2019.
Market Hero Review
Alex’s own lead & conversion tracking software that is supposed to increase your e-commerce dropshipping sales.
It also does email marketing for you.
Its a seamless one-stop shop if you want to get into eCom, although this is not 100% needed for you to be successful but I found some of the features to be quite helpful.
Such as automatically calculating for you the value of each lead as your eCom site starts making its sales.
You can figure this out manually by using a simple excel spreadsheet but it gets bit hard when you have to keep track of your email marketing sales vs. Facebook ad sales. This does it all for you so that’s helpful.
H-Com 2020 Review
Extensive 10-week course teaching you everything about e-commerce dropship business model.
There are many other courses out there also on drop shipping.
Alex Becker coupled it with his own lead tracking software the Market Hero which I mentioned above.
My readers know that I’ve had my fair share of trials & tribulations with the drop ship business model.
I’ve had few successes, plenty of failures as well.
All in the attempt to diversify my income streams as I had already built a multiple 6 figure online lead generation business by the time I started dabbling with ecommerce.
Ultimately, I would come back to lead gen business as my bread & butter.
The main thing I don’t like about dropship business is that you rely so heavily on Facebook paid traffic, and FB ads are so unreliable at times, ad spend becoming quite expensive and having to spend so much money on ads to make a small margins just wasn’t attractive for me after a while especially because with my lead gen business which runs on free traffic, I’m nearly 100% profit margins.
Also when you scale a drop ship business, your workload increases due to the increase need of customer service & other issues with physical products.
So e-Commerce is definitely not as scalable as most people are told.
The Black File Review
Alex Becker gives you many of his own ads & landing pages that he has used.
I personally wish he would just include these things in his coaching program but w/e
These are always great resources to learn from.
This is more of less designed for people that’s already using paid traffic.
It’s main point is to give you the blueprint and structure to create the ad and funnels that can be used on the mass scale, something that appeals to the masses so you can scale your offer to more people instead of a limited niche.
Hero Consulting Accelerator Review
Email marketing is not my favorite way of finding prospects & trying to land clients, but Jason W, shares some cool strategies on how to do it properly.
This training is more for people that already has established some sort of skill that’s able to help someone, hopefully a high-income skill like lead generation or SEO.

Alex Becker – is he a Scam Artist?
There’s a lot of people online that thinks Alex Beckler is a Scam artist
People that have even joined one of his many programs even.
Alex does tend to release many different programs over the years and some of his programs aren’t up to the quality standard that you might expect for the price, like many webinars where he has other experts come on and teach you SEO & online marketing skills.
There’s plenty of good stuff in there but at times feels bit disorganized.
The main reason why I believe people think he’s a scammer is because he’s very good at upselling you many of his other programs once you buy any of his course or join his email list.
And not all of them are great quality, although I’ve found something of value in them.
He’s very slick with his webinar funnels, and there’s some white lies thrown in here and there like he loves to use scarcity tactics such as his course will only be available if you sign up today and that this is a live webinar when its clearly a recorded webinar and he’s definitely selling the program well beyond its supposed expiration date.
Another reason Alex gets a lot of slack is because many other coaches or creators of different software & programs will reach out to him to see if they can promote their newest product to Alex Becker’s audience.
So at times he’s promoting things to you that he has not really tried fully himself.
In the end, many of his followers ended up buying programs that never helped them in anyway or software that talked a big game but that would break constantly and simply didn’t deliver on the promised results.
So these failed products that Alex Becker promoted to his students has angered many.
These things are bound to happen when you begin promoting so many different kinds of products, half of which you didn’t create yourself.
Alex though is a brilliant entrepreneur who’s doing the things that make him the most amount of money which is selling software & coaching programs, or digital products because those are infinitely scalable.
& so as you sell many different courses, not only do you make money on the new product launch but you’ll make second money from all of the upsells you gain from your existing audience.
This is the same approach Tai Lopez takes, which is why he’s also got many different programs available for sale.
I guess if you over promise on your product or service and they completely suck, it could be considered scam by many but for the most part many of Alex’s flagship programs are pretty rock solid.
Is he a scam artist? not in my book, but has he sold some questionable products in the past? yes.
Alex Becker’s best products are the Source Wave University for SEO and H-Com to learn the drop shipping business.
If I had to pick one or the other, I would pick SEO as the more usable & monetizable skill to learn as an aspiring internet entrepreneur.
I use my SEO skills everyday to build my lead generation business and this blog, journalreview.org.
Alex knows his stuff and he definitely shares plenty of good information across his many different products & programs.
My major complaint with him is that he seems to be releasing a new product every week.
It can get quite confusing for someone that’s simply looking for the best business model to start their online career.
I feel many of his programs could’ve been combined into 1.
Over the years, one of the biggest issues that prevent people from succeeding online is the shiny objects syndrome.
Failing to stick to the one thing and working at it till you succeed.
Too many people are hopping from one business to another, from one program to another, which breeds a weak mentality that runs away from any sign of adversity or challenge.
Which is why I believe many of Alex Becker’s students struggle because they’re chasing the next shiny object that Alex comes up with.
Bros & Sis, its not the THING that’s gonna make you successful, its YOU.
Entrepreneurship is a microcosm for life.
Life is about overcoming challenges and becoming a greater version of yourself on the other end.
To make a lot of money in life, you gotta become the person that’s capable of delivering tremendous value to the marketplace.
You can only become that person of high value if you actually face your challenges head on, overcome them, & grow stronger as a result.
This is how you authentically become that person that can walk the talk.
You really gotta hunker down, double down and find that fire within you that won’t take no for an answer. That’s willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. Then channel that fierceness into mastering just 1 or 2 high-income skill.
For me, it was solely focusing on the local lead generation business model after going through this coaching program, that has allowed me to quit my 9 to 5 job for good in 2015 and I’ve been self-employed and loving life 10X more ever since.
Put in the effort today of learning that skill & becoming that person of value, and you’ll reap the benefits for the rest of your life.
