I first found Franklin Hatchett while researching ways to make posts on Instagram go viral. His videos came up.
I love that he always has fresh content. For example, a recent video he released on July 6th, 2019 covered 4 legit ways to make passive income.
I dig what he’s sharing on Youtube so I decided to invest in 2 of his courses.
I am ALLL about passive income. In fact, I’ve created and continued to build an awesome passive income stream for myself starting back in 2014.
I like to expand my knowledge base as much as possible. It’s imperative to always keep learning when you are an entrepreneur.
His two courses are separately focused on eCommerce, and Affiliate Marketing.
Was it worth it to complete these courses?
Most of us understand that building an online business doesn’t happen overnight.
The bulk of my income has always been with local marketing, but I do have experience making quite a bit of money with ecom & affiliate as well.
In my opinion, some opportunities are just better than others.
Let’s go into the pros & cons of the affiliate business.
Pros & Cons of the Affiliate Marketing Business
First off, what IS affiliate marketing, just so we are all on the same page here.
Hey, I don’t know if you are a complete beginner or a seasoned pro!
So to sum it up, (and feel free to skip over this section if you already know this stuff!) affiliate marketing is when an online seller gives you a percentage of sales for products that you have assisted in selling.
You may have assisted in the sales of a product through sending them traffic from a website you created, a paid ad, or other types of marketing.
Another way to define this according to Google’s dictionary:
Flexibility. With affiliate marketing, you are your own boss. This means you can figure out when and where you decide to work. You also have the flexibility to decide if you are going to get traffic from a website, paid ads, or social sharing.
Profit. The long term potential of making good money is there.
Not the best passive income potential. Many people see affiliate marketing as a way to make passive income. Yes, it is possible, but in many ways it is not the easiest passive income out there. What comes in is not typically easily scalable and reliable. The ads and web properties often take constant maintenance, and you can invest a lot into doing proper SEO to get these sites to show up on Google.
It takes hard work. It’s true that affiliate marketers don’t have to pay any fees to begin with. However, you have to invest in ways to generate the traffic for your affiliate marketing website or ads, which means you will be spending money if you want to get steady sales and maintain traction.
It can take time. If affiliate marketing made you rich overnight, well, everyone would be doing it. It certainly does not happen quickly, and can take time to build out the web properties you need to get going. Not only that, but you are also going to have to tweak things as you go, which is why it is handy to have a course to walk you through what NOT to do. Having a solid course will also allow you to avoid the common pitfalls within this type of marketing.
Commission structure isn’t for everyone. If you are looking for an income based on commissions, then this could be for you. Otherwise, steer clear!
Franklin’s Savage Affiliates Review
- The course is both for beginners and for those already making money as an affiliate.
- There are 9 modules plus a bonus module.
- He gives you all the tools you need to start.
- Franklin even shares his own landing pages you can swipe.
- The Course covers both free & paid traffic.
- Easy to follow.
- Franklin lays out some niches he believes are money makers, but these niches are now getting too competitive due to all of the students who dive into them.
- It is not the most comprehensive Facebook ads course for affiliate marketing.
- Not all Clickbank offers convert well with FB.
- The course lacks some key SEO strategies like using PBNs for link building. Franklin mostly covers doing guest posts & link outreach.
- Ranking for affiliate keywords in Google is extremely competitive & might be too difficult for a beginner.
Affiliate marketing is competitive because anyone can join the game.
Another way to say it is that there is a very low barrier of entry.
Yes, it is very cool to be able to promote other people’s products that you don’t even own and make a commission while you don’t have to worry about product order fulfillment yourself.
If it was that easy, why would anyone even bother going into the affiliate marketing business at all then?
Affiliate marketing is extremely difficult using Facebook advertising. Your conversion rate has to be super top tier to make money quickly.
The ad image has to be on point. So does your ad copy, the landing page, the offer & your targeting. They ALL have to be at a really high level to actually make money using Facebook ads for an affiliate product.
Here is a sample of a Facebook ad, and as you can see there are a lot of components that need to be on perfected:
Not only that, but you need an offer that converts super well with Facebook. For some reason, one weight loss offer doesn’t convert at all on FB while a different one might.
A lot of the super affiliates that run FB ads will keep which offers are converting well on FB to themselves.
One thing you can do is contact the offer’s affiliate manager and ask them straight up if their offer is converting well with Facebook.
I wrote about what one needs to do with FB ads to make being an affiliate work here, when I hired a super affiliate to coach me 1 on 1.
Here are four stages a buyer will go through, that you must keep in mind when doing affiliate marketing.
This step by step process can be fine tuned to streamline your sales funnel.
Awareness: When your buyer first finds out about your product. This could be through Facebook or Instagram ads, or while researching a product on Google.
Interest: The next step is interest. What is it that is drawing the buyer to the product? How does the product stand out from others? What are the positives and negatives.
Decision: When that decision to buy actually occurs.
Action: If your call to action is not clear enough, the buyer may go back on the decision to purchase.
You can make good money with affiliate marketing if you are good at SEO & able to generate free traffic.
But what most people inevitably find is that trying to build free traffic for an affiliate offer has a very steep learning curve. Also it takes a very long time.
I’m not making big money yet with Affiliate SEO even though I’ve been doing advanced SEO for over 3 years now.
My primary focus has been Local Lead Generation. This incorporates SEO but is much easier because ranking sites in local markets is so much less competition and the payout is quite lucrative.
I make $50K per month and pretty much all of that is from my lead gen sites that are ranked locally.
Here is one that pays me $2k a month every month.
UPDATE: July 8, 2019
My tree care guy sent me a nice, pretty humorous testimonial a couple months back I just HAD to share:
I love how honest he is!
Yeah, we can do BIG things in any space with this knowledge.
So, compared to local lead gen… is affiliate marketing a solid long term play?
For the experienced SEO person, yes.
Even my SEO mentor who is making 7 figures monthly tells students to first build a $10K per month online income with Local SEO before moving into Affiliate SEO. Affiliate SEO requires quite a bit of upfront capital & will take some time to actually make a sizable profit.
While Franklin’s courses are quite good because he does show practical link building strategies that can work well, I just don’t think affiliate marketing is the most ideal online business to start. ESPECIALLY if you’re a complete newbie or have no prior SEO experience.
I believe Franklin has one of the best affiliate marketing courses out there.
He is very practical and shares some awesome tips & tricks that’ll save you a lot of time & money vs. figuring this stuff out on your own.
I have a passion for studying other successful people. One of the most common themes you’ll find is that they will all reference that point when they hired a mentor, and how doing that took them to the next level.
The same was true for me when I hired my own coach that helped me build my first 6 figure local lead generation business.
The motivational speaker and master of sales, Dan Lok says that the #1 thing that everyone needs to invest in before they get into business for themselves, is to invest in yourself & acquire some high-income skills.
High-income skills give you stability.
Because when you’ve got skills, you can always count on yourself to generate money.
This money that you generate can pay your bills & can be invested back into your business to scale.
Most people go into business without having any high-income skills, so they can’t continue to invest in their business. In turn, their business is not able to grow.
A business that’s not able to grow is dying.
Going through Franklin’s Affiliate or Ecom course will teach you several high-income skills.
Learning how to generate leads using Facebook, Instagram and how to rank a website on Google are all great skills to learn.
These are high-income skills, and can be applied to your own eCom store or affiliate websites. They can also be offered as a service to local businesses.
The reason why I like offering these skills to local businesses is that I get paid handsomely and much much faster vs. waiting for an eCom store to begin converting sales.
There’s so many businesses out there that have the money to invest into their marketing. Why not follow the cash?
SEO & Lead generation is the most sought after skill on the internet, and you can become their go-to person with the knowledge you have.
There are so many ways to make money online that are actually a total scam. These are the legit ways, and there is bountiful proof to back this up.
eCom & affiliate are both great things to educate yourself on, and Franklin does an amazing job with his courses.
But imo people should parlay that with some sort of client service-based work, it will make you even more valuable to the market place.
Money goes to those that bring tremendous value to the market.

You can’t make this stuff up. Our students have been crushing it left and right. The hi-light of the year was being able to meet with our huge group at the 2019 Reload event. It is so inspiring to see others who are doing the same local lead gen system and changing their lives.
Here are some of the posts in our group that followed that event!
This student was so overjoyed and thankful to attend:
Justin shares some wise words:
LOVE Josiah’s positive energy:
These are the people I surround myself with on the daily.
I’ve learned SO much from these mentors and fellow students.
As a result, my lead gen business is thriving.
