Dan Henry’s course Funnels & Ads for Entrepreneurs, formerly known as Facebook Ads For Entrepreneurs Course (FAFE), is a 40+ video training program on teaching you how to use Facebook ads to get leads for small businesses and sales training to teach you how to close clients over the phone.
I run a digital marketing agency myself, which does $50K per month, which is pretty much 80-90% profits because I generate my leads with free traffic.
Many people are flocking over to doing paid traffic for marketing because A.) its easier to start seeing results, you just put your credit card in, pay Facebook some money and you’ll start generating traffic B.) Its a lot easier to teach
Some people that don’t know what’s up even think SEO & free traffic generation is dead.
Well I’m here to tell you that 95% of my online business runs on free traffic and I continue to rank new sites to page 1 every week.
Why am I such a stickler for free traffic?
Because I tried paid traffic many times across many niches, even for my current clients that’s already buying leads from my lead gen sites… it mostly ended up costing more money than what it was worth.
I’m not here to say that Facebook ads is absolutely terrible either.
There’s definitely certain niches that it can work well in if you have the right product or service.
For myself, the niche that I found produced the most consistent positive ROI is selling online courses especially business opportunity courses.
My partner & I def run Facebook ads for our free traffic lead gen coaching program, last month we spent $100K. I’m sure Dan Henry is spending quite a lot on Facebook ads as well to promote his course.
Courses convert well because there’s a lot of passion around this topic of quitting your job and working from home, and its a higher ticket item with nearly 100% profit margins.
But a complete beginner cannot start selling a course obviously. So where do you begin?
Well, in our coaching program we show students how to generate leads with free traffic which is more viable approach imo to build your first 6 figure per month online business.
Once you know how to generate leads with free traffic, there isn’t a single niche that you can’t go into and make money with. I just can’t say the same with Facebook ads. Some niches perform terribly.
If you have a coaching program that you want to sell and you’re looking to scale with Facebook ads, or you got another digital product that has a lot of passion around it and you feel Facebook ads will work really well, then I think you’ll gain a lot of benefit from Dan Henry’s course.
In this review I’ll give you an overview of Dan’s course, my thoughts on it, what I feel is lacking? and who is it for exactly? Also I’ll be comparing his business model against mine, in other words paid traffic lead generation skill versus free traffic lead generation.

Overall solid Facebook ads training for a beginner, I wish there was more over the shoulder type of training where he would show real examples & case studies of his real clients, over the years I’ve found that the kind of Facebook ads that work in one niche may not work for another niche.

What Do I think is Lacking From This Course?
IMO, doing Facebook ads for clients is my least favorite way to generate leads for small businesses.
- Facebook ads fluctuate in performance day to day, niche to niche. Its not set it and forget it type of business so its hard to scale and profit margins are very slim at times because of expensive ad cost.
This is why I mostly do lead generation with free traffic. Being able to generate leads organically by ranking lead gen properties with SEO is far greater
So what’s lacking from this course?
- Google Adwords
- SEO/Lead Generation
Adwords is great because you can target keywords and generate traffic that was already looking for your product/service. This is attraction marketing vs. interruption marketing. Interruption marketing is Facebook ads because you are showing it in front of people that weren’t actively looking for your product or service.
If you have a great product with great profit margin like selling your own course, Facebook ads can do well but for most small business niches: dentist, roofers, plumbers, limo service, etc
Generating leads by ranking a website with SEO
Using Google Adwords produces far greater results.
Because when you have a tooth in pain or a leaking roof, you’re not gonna go to Facebook for help. You’re going straight to Google to look for a local company ASAP.
My Experience with Running Paid Advertising for Clients
As I’ve stated before I run a $50K per month lead generation business but all of my leads are generating through free traffic or SEO.
So its pretty much passive income, I don’t have to worry about the performance of my ads or anything.
Once my site ranks it generally stays ranks with very little to no maintenance.
Now I did land some paid advertising clients over the years and ran some Facebook ads for them but in my experience, those clients required a lot more work on-going to maintain ad performance and I really wasn’t getting paid more money than my hassle-free SEO lead gen clients so after a while the return on investment of my time wasn’t worth it to me anymore.
Also I don’t like the fact that with paid advertising clients, they can decide to drop you at anytime they wish.
So you might have a $2000 per month client, you think everything is going very well, and suddenly they tell you they’ve decided to hire a different company to do marketing for them and you’re left hung to dry.
I like knowing that the income streams I’m building are here to stay for the longterm.
This is why in our lead generation coaching program, we teach you to build your own lead gen properties so that your clients have to continue to keep paying you. If they stop, they know that you can easily start sending the leads to their competitor.
This is what has allowed me to have a business that I can put time & resources into and my income has consistently went up, it has never went down.
For me, running Facebook ads for my own product or service worked, but running it for another company didn’t produce as good of results.
- Ad spend sometimes exceeded budget & cut into profit margins
- Leads were not as high quality as I can get from Adwords or organic search
Don’t get me wrong you can still make money running FB ads for others but its very challenging to keep a client over the long term. This is why I still recommend people look into doing lead generation with free traffic, because then you have full control over the lead gen properties so clients have to keep paying you, and not have to pay FB’s expensive ad fees.
Dan Henry’s Facebook advertising & funnels course is solid, everything is there to learn FB marketing.
From my experience, FB marketing really depends on the niche & the product & service you’re offering.
Some niches will do really well, some product that has a unique solution or product, and its a niche that has a lot of passion around it.
Such as make money from home courses, obviously going to work everyday is a big pain point that many people have and there’s a lot of passion about the notion of being able to work from home & be your own boss.
Another example, Dan Henry gave was his results with acquiring new students for a mix martial arts gym.
Sure there are niches that work with Facebook ads, but the problem is there are many niches that really struggle with Facebook ads.
Here are some examples of niches that didn’t work so well for me
- roofing contractor
- carpet cleaner
- tree service
- asphalt contractor
These are my local lead generation clients that was already paying me monthly fee because I’m sending them leads from my lead gen sites (free traffic) but they wanted to try to get more leads so we tried Facebook ads.
Just didn’t pan out.
We ended up paying too much money for each call, and it became way too costly.
That’s the thing with using Facebook ads for a local business, they might have a profit margin of 40%. Well if it starts costing them 15% or more in Facebook ad fees to acquire that customer, more often than not, the job isn’t worth it to do anymore.
Not to mention you have to make your % as well.
However Google Adwords usually produced much better results for me for many of these home-service type of industries which I like to be in because there’s a lot of action happening constantly and a lot of the business happens over the phone. So these guys are desperately in need of online marketers that can generate leads.
Unfortunately Dan Henry doesn’t teach adwords or local SEO.
So I’d say those two skills would be the biggest missing piece with this program.
Unlike Facebook ads, if you know how to generate leads with free traffic, you can virtually go into any niche and create rockstar level results for clients.
In my eyes, if you call yourself a local marketing expert, you really ought to have the skill to rank the most important digital property for small businesses and that’s highly ranked Google map listing and website.
That’s how 90% of my multiple 6 figure income is generated.
And I should add that its passive income, see free traffic never stops.
In 2019, I continue to build more lead gen sites and I write at least 1 blog post for this site, because I’ve come to realize that these are the high-income producing activities because it directly increases my free traffic every month.
