A few months ago, a Russian company made the news because of their extremely unique business plan.
They rented out a plane, but never flew it anywhere. Instead, they let it sit on the runway and charged money for customers to sit in it for a few hours.
Sounds crazy, right?
Well, it gets better.
This company spent a little extra money, creating a “first class” seating area complete with champagne, leather seats, and all manner of luxurious items.
Then, the company spent a little more money on high-quality cameras and lighting equipment.
The end results?
Customers were paying money to sit in this “first class” seat for an hour or so while trained photographers took pictures of them sipping champagne and looking out of the window.
They would then post the pictures to social media, impressing all their friends.
It sounds ridiculous, but there’s a strong demand for this type of thing right now.
Social media is huge, and everyone’s trying to outdo each other with more impressive photos than the last batch.
The beauty of this business is that setup costs are extremely low.
You don’t even need to buy a functioning plane. Just the mere shell of a fuselage would do the trick. You only really need one or two airplane seats.
Spending a little extra money, creating the illusion of a first-class area is also pretty cheap. Camera equipment might cost a little more, but this is all relatively minor.
Marketing this business might be tough at the initial stages, but it won’t be tough for long.
The beauty of this business is that all of your photos end up on social media – often with hundreds of thousands (or millions) of views and likes.
Your customers do the marketing for you. All you’ll require is requesting that they tag your company or give you photo credit.
If people are interested after seeing your photos on social media, they’ll send you a direct message immediately.
Sure, it might seem crazy at first – but think about it.

12. Small Ferry Service
Many cities feature massive rivers and bodies of water that various separate neighborhoods from one another.
Most travelers go over bridges to get across, but where’s the fun in that?
Ferry services might not be the most convenient way to get from across rivers and bays, but they’re certainly among the most enjoyable.
The excitement behind this business is that you can use relatively small and cheap boats. Simply give them a nice paint job, hire cheerful boat drivers, and wait for tourists to wander over.
With this business, you should focus on offering a “sightseeing” experience.
You might give your beat drivers microphones and speaker systems, so they can talk about various facts, make jokes, or talk about other attractions in the city.

This is especially true in North America.
One of the things they’ve been cutting is school bus services.
But many parents still need some kind of transportation system to safely get their kids to school and back, especially if they live in rural areas, or far away from their schools.
That means there’s an excellent business opportunity for anyone who can start their own, private school bus company in areas where demand exists.
This business is quite similar to the Shuttle Bus business that we’ve already discussed, but with some major differences.
When you’re dealing with children, extra considerations must be taken. Safety is a huge concern, and that means that your busses need to be well-serviced and safety approved.
You should also be very careful when you choose your school bus drivers.
Consider running background checks on all your drivers and ensure that they all drive safely.
The next consideration is the overall cost of running this business.
School buses can be very expensive, especially when you’re establishing an entire fleet of these specialized vehicles.
With all that said, this business could be immensely profitable, especially as the education industry starts to receive further funding cuts.

You might choose to offer a general tour of your local city, going back and forth between all the major monuments and sightseeing spots.

These are popular, although you’ll need multiple busses to make this work.
The whole point of a hop on, hop off service is that you can catch the next bus. If there aren’t several buses running at once, this business model loses its appeal.
You might also choose to offer themed tour bus services. Maybe there’s a specific area that you can monopolize – where there’s relatively less competition.
Maybe you have unique, expert knowledge of a particular area, or a group of specific monuments.
This business might also be seasonal.
As previously mentioned, you can offer a Halloween bus service that might tour through the spookier parts of town.
